First Draft

Final Draft
Reflection
I chose to write about this experience because I was proud of my achievement of first place and I wanted to show my growth as a public speaker. This is essay shows the good qualities of me such as my determination, courage, will power, study habits, and skills. The first draft of this essay was one big wall of text, with no distinction between paragraphs. It seemed more like a free response answer than an essay. The content of the essay was consistently abstract. The essay as a whole was in dire need of restructuring. This is exactly what I did for my second draft. To make the essay less abstract, I made it more specific by portraying it in a showing way rather than a telling way. My goal in the second draft was to make the essay flow like a story. The goal for my final draft was to add a better hook and take out “to be” verbs. Through this essay I learned to try to insert my voice, to limit to be verbs, and to always proofread thoroughly.
