I chose this topic because I felt that that I had a story to tell about my last name and I wanted the reader to remember my name. This essay follows my theme of growth by showing my growth in maturity and self-confidence. The first draft of this essay was an unorganized mess of ideas and scribbles. Through this essay I learned to always type my work. My first draft didn’t have much that would merit it being called a college essay. It didn’t show much of my qualities and wouldn’t make a college want to accept me. With this in mind I restructured the essay by adding my qualities, replacing to be verbs, and organizing it. For the final draft I restructured my introduction by creating a hook and adding my voice. I took out a couple sentences that didn’t sound like me. Also I added to the body paragraph and took out offtrack sentences. I’ve learned through this essay that I usually put a lot of effort into my introductions, while leaving the rest of the essay as just OK. I learned to try to be consistent and to stay on topic.
